GCSE Duration: 32 Weeks
You are always in control of your options. You can take a one-year course or a two year course at a discounted rate (dependent on ability and assessment).

Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements. However, a good basic level of numeracy and literacy is expected.
Course Content
We believe that science has something to offer every student. That’s why we have introduced a science qualification to our courses offered. You’ll see that our GCSE Biology course is a clear straightforward specification, with clear straightforward exams, so you can reach your potential.
On the course you will study the following modules:
- Cell biology
- Organisation
- Infection and response
- Bioenergetics
- Homeostasis and response
- Inheritance, variation and evolution
- Ecology
- Key ideas
Method of Study
You will develop fluent knowledge, skills and understanding of scientific methods and concepts, and acquire, select and apply scientific techniques to solve problems. You will be able to recall and use this knowledge in questions that link different areas of the specification to develop coherent arguments and explanations.
You will be able to study flexibly and at your own pace over the course of 30 weeks completing a range of linear modules and online experiments.
Method of Assessment
You will sit two examinations
Paper One (Written exam: 1 hour 45 minutes)
Topics 1–4: Cell biology; Organisation; Infection and response; and Bioenergetics.
Questions: Multiple choice, structured, closed short answer and open response.
Paper Two (Written exam: 1 hour 45 minutes)
Topics 5–7: Homeostasis and response; Inheritance, variation and evolution; and Ecology.
Questions: Multiple choice, structured, closed short answer and open response.
Please note: one year courses are intensive and require independent study and research.
